An average sized single family home of 2000 sq. ft.
should take two to three (2-3) hours to complete.
The condition, age, size, construction of the home
and the experience level of the inspector are all
factors that will affect the time it takes to effectively
complete your home inspection.
Can I go through the inspection
with the home inspector?
By all means, if it is possible you should attend
the inspection. A great deal of information about
the home will be learned during the inspection procedure.
While most of this information will be contained in
your report of findings, you will have an opportunity
to see any potential areas of concern first hand rather
than simply reading about them in your report. It
is also a great opportunity to ask questions and become
more familiar with the home.
I am interested in a home that
has been renovated throughout. A friend walked through
it with me and said that there were no problems. Do
I really need to have a home inspection done?
Even in newly constructed homes, there can be issues
with the construction or viability of functions in
the home. You should always have a home inspection
when buying or selling.
